About Us

Richard (Rich) Handy, the President of AstroHandy Accessories and Thomas (Tom) Quinn established this small internet astronomy business that began as an idea in the Fall of 2002, when Rich developed the QuickDome Hexagonal Observatory Plans, a very light weight, easy to assemble, semi-permanent, rotating observatory. This was followed in the Spring of 2005 by the FlatMaster CCD Lightbox which is rapidly gaining popularity among astronomical imagers as the preferred tool for acquiring flat frames. The DarkAdapt line of red monitor filters and the Keyboard LED lights were introduced around this time. Tom Quin brings his expertise in design to development of the newly introduced FlatMaster I CCD Lightbox. His experience with Patterson Electronics and Ramona Technology in CCD camera technology and microcomputer design are key drivers in the company's future growth.
